'And We Went' Exhibition Catalogue
The And We Went: 60 Years After The Baton Rouge Swim-In exhibition catalogue is a 60-page full-color publication documenting the works of the eleven artists included in the special exhibition. The catalog includes the original poem Chlorinated Comfort by Chancelier "xero" Skidmore, a piece commissioned specifically for And We Went. In addition, the catalogue also includes a historical account of the Baton Rouge Swim-In by Melissa Eastin (Archivist and Head of Special Collections for East Baton Rouge Parish Library), as well as essays from Dialogue on Race Louisiana CEO, Maxine Crump, and BREC Superintendent, Corey Wilson. Exhibition curator Jonell Logan also provides commentary on the crafting of the exhibition and the history of exclusion around swimming in America.
The catalogue includes full color reproductions of all the works featured in the exhibition as well as statements from Logan on each artist and their works.
As part of the Louisiana Cultural Districts Program, all original art purchases at BRG are granted a reduced sales tax rate of 4.45% (as opposed to the standard 10% sales tax). Sales tax is applied during checkout.
