Helping with gallery events is an important part of your internship. Once enrolled, you will receive a calendar of events. Attendance at all events is essential. Most installation and deinstallation of work is not cumbersome but a few exhibitions are extensive and require a team and are therefore also required. Learning how to hang and deinstall exhibitions is a useful skill and we will teach you all of the steps you need. You will also learn industry standards and customs. You will also get a feel for how we operate day-to-day coordination efforts for rotating exhibitions, related programming, community programs, and outreach initiatives. Art students also have an opportunity to split their time between our offices and the studio of a mid-career practicing artist in their field. When available, we invite our interns to events off-site and foster continued education opportunities and networking. We work with each intern on an individual basis to find where they fit within the organization and help them understand what they want to focus on as they move through their education. No one internship is exactly like another, just like no two career paths are exactly alike. The shared throughline for the program is based on the care and maintenance of the gallery space.
