ABOUT CURATOR JONELL LOGAN

VICE PRESIDENT & CREATIVE DIRECTOR, THE McCOLL CENTER

Jonell Logan is the Vice President and Creative Director for McColl Center, a nationally-acclaimed artist residency and contemporary arts hub in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is an arts advocate dedicated to supporting the careers of contemporary artists and providing connections for non-traditional audiences.

Logan currently serves on the founding board for OF/BY/FOR ALL, which equips civic and cultural organizations to become of, by, and for their diverse communities. Previously, she was the Executive Director of the League of Creative Interventionists (LOCI), a nonprofit organization that supports a national network of artists and community partners using creativity to transform communities from within.

Before LOCI, she founded 300 Arts Project, an arts consulting company that supports strategic planning, community engagement, equity and diversity in arts via training, and exhibitions.

Originally from New York, Logan worked at several arts organizations including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of Art, and Studio Museum in Harlem. Moving South, she worked at The Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, South Carolina, and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American History and Culture in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Prior exhibitions for which Logan served in a curatorial role included artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Kara Walker, Dr. Fahamu Pecou, Melissa Alexander, among many others. Logan’s curatorial practice is also informed by her expertise in developing programs that serve artists, neighborhoods, and audiences with diverse backgrounds.
