Ron English Lecture

Surreal Salon 10 Juror and Pop-Surrealist Trailblazer to Speak at LSU

Ron English

Ron English

Baton Rouge Gallery is honored to have, thanks to a partnership with the LSU School of Art, the incomparable Ron English serving as the Special Guest Juror for 2018's Surreal Salon 10.

One of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive today, New York-based painter, designer and street artist Ron English has bombed the global landscape with unforgettable images, on the street, in museums, in movies, books, television, and music. English coined the term ‘Popaganda’ to describe his signature mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones, from superhero mythology to totems of art history, creating a visual language that turns advertising into “subvertizing” and parody into illumination.

On Monday, January 29, English will host an informal lecture at the LSU School of Art's Design Building. He will touch on his career as a professional artist, the pop-surrealist movement itself, and the latest incarnation of BRG's Surreal Salon exhibition.

This lecture is open to the public and is free to attend.
