Scott Finch : Collages

December 3 - 28, 2017

With a drastic shift in material from his most recent exhibitions at BRG, Scott Finch has taken the most personal images from his sketchbooks as points of departure for energetic, immediate compositional assemblages. According to the artist, “collage is a speculative medium. It lends itself to playful combinatory experimentation and risk taking.” As a result Finch has stretched his aesthetic and begun playing with color and texture in ways that his previous work with scratchboards and ink did not permit. Each of the works in this exhibition involve cut paper with archival glue and a UV resistant matte finish fixative.

A BRG artist member since 2002, Finch received his Masters of Fine Arts at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. His work has been featured by the The Ogden Museum of Southern Art (New Orleans, LA), the Critic's Choice Exhibition at the Dallas Visual Art Center, and The Fleisher Art Challenge at the Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, PA. His professional experience includes stints as an educator at Southeastern Louisiana University, Baton Rouge Community College and the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and as the Executive Director of the Texas Sculpture Association. Finch currently serves as Capitol Park Museum's Special Projects Coordinator.
