a virtual reception will be held via our facebook and instagram pages on december 2nd. Follow us at BRGallery for updates and images!

the in-person FIRST WEDNESDAY OPENING RECEPTION & artICULATE aRTIST tALK have been cancelled for this exhibition due to risks associated with the covid-19 pandemic. the gallery will be open during regular business hours (Tu - Su, 12pm - 6pm) for individuals or groups under 25 people. social distancing and masks are required.

David Horton's work uses subconscious symbolism to imbue objects with a mysterious quality that asks the viewer to sort out the situation presented.

“As with many of us this enforced isolation had an unexpected impact on my work. I began to explore more image and less story. My work will always have subtext but perhaps less so as I move forward. Several of the works here still have familiar imagery and others will have traces of that imagery. If you have followed my work over time please look at the latest work with new eyes. I am still exploring the hidden human condition in all of us but my approach seems to be leaning more to the beautiful rather than the profane.”

For more than 27 years, David Horton taught art and design at LSU, Arizona State Univerisity, Mississippi State University and Nicholls State University. Horton has kept studios in southern Spain, Paris and Provence. He has shown his work in many national and international venues and has been collected by Bonnie Raitt, Paloma Picasso, Morgan Guaranty Bank of Paris, the Delta Blues Museum and Scottsdale Center for the Arts.

This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Rob Carpenter, Heather Ryan Kelley & Kristine Thompson. All works from these artists are on view, free of charge, during normal gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun) from May 4th through the 27th.
