Join us on Saturday, September 29 when BRG's popular summer film series, Movies & Music on the Lawn, presented by Pop Shop Records, brings you the timeless tale of temptation, "Faust," alongside an original score composed and performed by one of Baton Rouge's liveliest bands, Ship of Fools.
This will be the final (of five) presentations during Movies & Music's 20th year of bringing together the best silent films of all time with the best musicians of our time (and place).
As always, BRG members get in free of charge and everyone enjoys bottomless popcorn!
Veterans of the Movies & Music on the Lawn series, Ship of Fools is an eclectic and energetic indie-rock band. The Fools have a different vibe than your usual local band. The mixture of Ashley's powerful vocals, Michael's folk guitar and Raudol's classical-influenced cello lines backed by Eric's intricate drum creates a unique sound with crazy chemistry. Ship of Fools will take you away with their performance, giving you an unmatched live experience.
In this classic of silent cinema (94% on Rotten Tomatoes), a demon makes a wager with an archangel, betting that even a good man's soul can be corrupted. The old alchemist Faust, who is desperate to save his village from plague, becomes the demon's target. Thanks to the demon, the alchemist is able to help the villagers, but there's a cost.
Join us as we close out the 20th year of Movies & Music on the Lawn with a story of love, evil, and temptaion, all set to the incredible sounds of one of Baton Rouge's best bands.
