On Sunday, August 18, Baton Rouge Gallery welcomes a duo of singer/songwriters, Denton Hatcher & Molly Taylor for a special Sundays@4 event.
The event, as with all Sundays@4 events, is open to the public free of charge.
Molly and Denton are singer/songwriters in Louisiana. For years, Hatcher and Taylor have been performing individually but have since teamed up and started working together. With sounds of folk, soul, Americana and old country, they deliver smooth harmonies and near-universally relatable lyrics.
Hatcher's music is familiar but diverse, from the many influences that have helped him cultivate an eclectic yet deeply personal sound. He draws inspiration from many styles, but his music stands together like a strong foundation, one that quickly reaches the audience, opens their eyes a little wider. Hatcher has also taken up the helm of recording/engineering for himself and other artists. In addition to playing alongside Taylor, Hatcher is a regular player in Killer Whale, a psychedelic rock band based in San Francisco.
Taylor has been a growing force in the area’s music scene, particularly after the release of her 2016 EP, “Loud and Clear.” Her take on Americana, as The Advocate once put it, “is a blend of pure emotion and raw talent.” She began singing in choir at the age of 11 and was put into a talented music program at 15 where she studied music composition, theory, and learned multiple instruments including the piano and guitar. Writing and performing her own music, Molly Taylor delivers a strong voice with real lyrics that one can connect with.
Come hear the songs penned and played by this talented duo - and the stories behind them - at Sundays@4 on July 14, at BRG. For more details, call 225.383.1470.
