Baton Rouge Gallery (“BRG”)has been a part of the cultural landscape of Louisiana’s capital region for more than five decades. In that time, it has hosted hundreds of exhibitions, countless special events, and helped expose the residents of and visitors to Baton Rouge to thousands of artists across disciplines. It has always been a venue focused on expanding the appreciation of the artists of here and now while also giving the best artists in our region a place for them to connect with audiences and collectors. Having first opened its doors in 1966 with twelve artists on its roster, today it features an artist membership of more than 60 visual artists working in a wide array of media and subject matter.

Jason Andreasen came to BRG in 2007 and was named Executive Director the following summer. During his more than ten years with the gallery, it has seen growth in both attendance and community support in addition to programmatic advancements. He enjoys working with the gallery’s artist members to bridge the gap between them and the community while also continually improving the quality and impact of the exhibitions offered at BRG.

Works from the EBRPL collection of local art featuring BRG artist members both past and present will also be on view in conjunction with the talk.

Join us as we look at how BRG started, where it is today, and what it’s tomorrow might look like.
