About The Red Mill (1927): Starring one of the undisputed queens of silent-era Hollywood, Marion Davies, “The Red Mill,” is an American romantic comedy set in The Netherlands. This Academy Award winning film tells the story of Tina, a tavern worker who enters and wins an ice-skating contest so that she can kiss Dennis, a visiting traveler. Circumstances prevent their kiss, and Dennis, who is a bit of a ladies' man, leaves the country shortly after. When Dennis returns later, he sets his sights on Gretchen, who is caught up in a love triangle with two other men. He goes to her home -- but it is Tina, who is helping out Gretchen, that he finds and falls for. Run time: 74 minutes
About Riarosa: Hailing from Baton Rouge, LA, indie band Riarosa will lift you up into a lush, reverb-drenched dream and gently set you down into a groove. They have been described as “a natural expression, like an unfiltered stream of ideas.” What began as an improvisational trip-hop trio formed by drummer J.T. O’Neal quickly found a melting pot of influences that led to their current sound. With the addition of singer/guitarist Maria Rosa Gough and guitarist Jacob Stanley, the group quickly evolved into a more concrete form. Adding even more dynamic creativity to the band were bassist Jeffrey Livingston and keyboardist Aaron Dupre. Riarosa continues to grow and make music that hopes to create positive vibes.
Join us for the triumphant return of Movies & Music on the Lawn on June 26 and then come back all summer long for all five events as part of the 2021 season!
