About The Lilli Lewis Project: The Lilli Lewis Project is more than a band. It’s a pan-generational cult of radical decency that delivers heart throbbing, earnest rock and soul that, as Jamie Anderson of indie-music.com puts it, “makes you want to put your hands in the air, shout hallelujah and shake your booty for the rest of the night, with enough energy to power a large city.”
Lewis is said to have “Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s virtuoso commitment to her instrument and Odetta’s vocal power, creating a show that is a force of nature.” The Louisiana Red Hot Records artist has two releases on the label of Dumpstaphunk, Honey Island Swamp Band, and 2018 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Cyril Neville.
About Sidewalk Stories (1989): This award-winning modern silent film brings the style and heart of Charlie Chaplin’s ‘The Kid,’ to the cold streets of New York City in the late 1980s. It follows an artist dealing with homelessness who is forced to play surrogate parent when the father of a young girl is murdered. The artist keeps the little girl healthy and happy while doing his best to search for her living relatives. As the artist and the child venture through the streets together, they meet a strange assortment of characters while slowly developing an intimate friendship.
A note for parents: This film was rated R upon its release for brief nudity and some violent (not bloody/gory) scenes. If you have any concerns about this, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information and a more detailed account of what to expect.
‘Shot in black and white in a bitter-cold New York City, Sidewalk Stories is buoyed by Chaplinesque physical comedy even as it takes an unflinching look at what it means to be without a home in a violent, uncaring society.’
