Surreal Salon 15 Juror and Pop-Surrealist Artist to Speak at LSU

Baton Rouge Gallery is honored to have, thanks to a partnership with the LSU School of Art, internationally acclaimed artist Marco Mazzoni serving as the Special Guest Juror for 2023's Surreal Salon 15.

Marco Mazzoni is an artist based in Milan, Italy best known for his vibrant and dramatic colored pencil drawings. Mazzoni's work holds a strong interest in flora and fauna, often depicting subjects surrounded by colorful plants, birds, and more. His works have been seen in galleries across Europe and North America as well as publications like The New Yorker, Juxtapoz Magazine, Hi Fructose Magazine, Les Arts Dessines, and Arte Mondadori.

Mazzoni also developed an original colored pencil drawing to serve as a new visual identity for Surreal Salon, inspired by the first 14 years of the show.

Mazzoni will give a free and informal talk at the LSU School of Art on Monday, January 23, 2023 in conjunction with Surreal Salon 15. His presentation will touch on his own work, his career as a professional artist, artificial intelligence, pop-surrealism, as well as the collection of works featured in Surreal Salon 15.

This lecture is open to the public and is free to attend.
