The Baton Rouge Gallery will host a reading on Sunday, September 24, at 4 p.m. by the Ricapito Group, a creative writing group that has helped its members publish over twenty full-length books since its inception. Ten of its members will read from current or published works at the event.
The Ricapito Group was formed in the late 70's by LSU poet-in-residence William Kit Hathaway and expanded after Carolyn and Joseph Ricapito assumed leadership. After Joseph’s death and Carolyn’s relocation to New York, the group continues to gather monthly. “It is evident that the positive, supportive atmosphere has helped to hone each writer’s skills and refine native abilities,” said Ed Ruzicka. Their works appear regularly in literary journals and have won a number of literary awards.
These creative writers will participate in the free Sunday event: Raymond Berthelot, Charles deGravelles, Jeanne George, Andrew King, Ed Ruzicka, Marilyn Shapley, Eileen Shieber, John Tarlton, Randolph Thomas and Cynthia Toups.
The reading will be preceded by singer/songwriter Randolph Thomas performing original songs.
