Movies & Music on the Lawn returns on Saturday, April 26 with its annual Kids Night that is bigger and better than ever! This year’s event will feature the students of Baton Rouge Music Studios performing an original score, live, alongside this year’s Oscar-winner for Best Animated Feature, Flow. Plus, before the film, kids will have the chance to hang out and have some fun with our friends from Knock Knock Children’s Museum starting at 7:30pm.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, Movies & Music on the Lawn events are open to everyone at absolutely no cost. And did we mention free, bottomless popcorn??
Since 1998, the series has been a cultural staple in Baton Rouge, bringing contemporary Louisiana-based musicians to compose and perform original scores for silent films while they’re projected on a towering inflatable screen inside BREC’s City-Brooks Community Park. The annual Kids Night edition of the series every year features a film specifically for kids with music performed by kids.
This year's Kids Night is a connected experience powered by Cox Mobile.

About Flow (2024): This gorgeous film comes to the lawn inside City-Brooks Park fresh off winning for Best Animated Feature at both this year’s Academy Awards and Golden Globes. Audiences the world over continue to be captivated by this film from Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis that is a tale of survival that originally premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Flow takes audiences on a journey alongside a courageous cat after his home is devastated by a great flood. (Runtime: 1 hour, 24 minutes)
“‘Flow’ oozes with charm and playfulness, a delightful multi-generational film that captures a quiet grace missing from so many modern animated features obsessed with manic edits, flashing colours and cacophonous sound design.” - Wenlei Ma for The Nightly
