My style of work has always been spontaneous and intuitive. Initially, I transferred to printmaking out of necessity, but I have chosen to continue using monotypes, which I’ve found to be an advantageous medium for expressing my thoughts and dreams. Each piece begins anew or builds on the residual traces of past images — a metaphor for my artistic journey.
While the process may seem simplistic, there are many techniques available. I layer images and unique shapes, often made from reusable materials and stencils to create positive and negative shapes. The process allows me to repeat shapes across a series and recontextualize them within compositions.
The shapes I use suggest recognizable objects like feathers, leaves, clouds, plants — as well as more abstract forms. I find inspiration in the sensations, textures and infinite colors of the world around me. My goal is to create an image that simultaneously includes the familiar and the unknown. “ - Goodell
