Theresa Herrera is a multimedia artist who oftentimes focuses on socially conscious subject matter. Her art is informed by her Mexican ancestry, sacred geometry, cosmograms, mandalas, labyrinths, and Mayan hieroglyphs. She creates form by using transparent and overlapping waves of colors and materials in works that range from geometric abstraction to surrealism.
Herrera, a native of Los Angeles, has exhibited her work at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Cleveland Museum, The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, San Antonio, Texas, MexicArte, Austin, Texas, New Orleans Museum of Art, and the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans. She received grants from the Louisiana Division of Arts for travel in Guatemala and for archiving her work. She is an art educator who has shared her passion for visual literacy with children and adults for over 40 years.
This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Anne Boudreau, Christopher Brumfield, & Randell Henry. All works from these artists are on view, free of charge, during regular gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun) from June 4 - 27, 2024.
